"I only knew how to talk about myself" wrote the poet Rachel. Yet what we feel and think about the Zionist pioneers is greatly influenced by her poetry. In the same vein, other female poets proved that their personal, honest and uncompromising poetry maintained its power regardless of how many years have passed since their poems were written. From the humanistic poems of Goldberg, to Zelda's deeply held religious beliefs, the political poetry of Ravikovitch and the boundary pushing poetry of Yona Wallach, women poets pushed the envelope and opened a door to a generation of contemporary Hebrew poets.
Ilan Vitemberg will guide us through the most significant Israeli women poets such as: Yona Wallach, Zelda, Rachel, Leah Goldberg and others. The series is in Hebrew.
The 6 lecture series dates are: 4/6, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18, 5/25 on Tuesdays 8-9:30 PM EDT.
The cost is $15 per lecture per person (single tickets are only for new comers) and $90 for the series.
