We are learning about the history of our ancestors through the eyes of selected chapters in the Bible with Dr. Ilan Abecassis, directly from Israel. We will look at the historical events and the lives of those who lived during this period while reading from the books of Shmuel and analyzing their historical and archeological context.

The 13 lectures are held on Mondays (every other week) from 8-9:30 PM EST on the following dates:

Note: in March, the dates are on Sundays (March 7, 21)

(2020 -Nov 30, Dec 14, 28), Jan 11, 25, Feb 8, 22, March 7, 21, April 11, 29, May 3, 19. We reserve the rights to change the schedule if necessary.

The cost of each class is $15 per person (single lecture is available for first timer only).

  • Full series: $185 instead of $195

  • First 7 lectures is $100 instead of $105

  • Remaining 6 lectures is $75 instead of $80

About Dr. Ilan Abecassis

Ilan Abecassis lives in Israel and has been immersing himself in the wonders of the Bible since his days in high school. Ilan is a Biblical and Ancient Near East historian, a writer, a lecturer, a podcaster and (soon to be) a licensed tour guide.

Ilan holds a B.A. in Archaeology and Biblical Studies and a M.A. in Biblical studies from the Hebrew university of Jerusalem (Thesis: “Mercenaries in Israel in Biblical Times”). In addition, he earned his Ph.D. in Biblical Studies and ancient Near East from Ben-Gurion University in Beer Sheba (Dissertation: “Political Assassination in Ancient Near East”).

Ilan wrote two books: “The Deputy of Bar Kochva - Number Two in History” and “Political Assassinations in the Bible and Ancient Near East”.  His third book titled  “The counsel of Ahithophel: the debates in the Bible” is about to be published.
